Set clear energy goals for your properties and work proactively and structured to achieve them
We are pleased to now launch the latest result of our development work – Energy Target! An invaluable tool for you who wants to plan, evaluate, and analyze what measures will take you to your environmental and energy-saving goals. The function gives you help along the way both for specific buildings and also for your entire stock.
Real estate is part of the solution – not the problem.
In Europe, where buildings account for just over 40% of energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions, there is great potential for improvement. The EU carried out an analysis and concluded that 75% of all buildings are not energy efficient. Therefore, energy efficiency is a priority for almost all property owners, which is also in line with the Energy Directive to achieve a more sustainable society. Streamlining of properties therefore has both a large, but also direct, effect. In addition, it increases the value of the building, which means that even costly investments can be profitable.
In the requests we have received from our customers, it has been clear that many lack simple and clear planning and follow-up tool that is used in daily operations, to support the work of planning measures and objectives linked to the buildings they take care of.
A common procedure is to prioritize measures in the buildings where you get the most benefit from the money invested and all focus is placed on the prioritized buildings. Then it is easy to lose focus on other buildings. It is precisely for this purpose that “Energy Target” and “Energy Actions” have been created.
Energy Target is now released as an additional service in Egain Edge.
Feel free to watch our recorded webinar on Energy Target where Stefan Berglund, Certified Energy Expert who was involved in developing the tool, goes through the technology and its functionality, 7 minutes.
Here’s how it works
To get started with the Energy Target planning tool, the user first determines a reference level so that he or she knows where we are starting from on each building. Usually, the energy use is selected for a specific reference year on each building. Then a goal is set that represents where we are going with this particular building. An important insight is that it is not possible to work with all buildings at the same time but prioritize certain buildings so that we achieve the set goals in total on the entire property portfolio.
As the goals are planned for the buildings, it is summed up at each level so that it is finally visible what the measures provide for the impact on the entire building stock.
As a user, you then select the appropriate building-by-building measures. This is suitably done jointly by those with overall energy responsibility and those who work in a specific area and have a good knowledge of the buildings there.
With the second part of the additional service, called “Energy Actions”, it is easy for you as a technical manager or energy manager to plan what different energy measures mean in reduced energy use and what size of an investment is required. All underlying figures are taken from BEBO’s report Rekorderlig Renovering and are thus standard and completely objective, which makes it easy to plan different measures and make a plan to achieve your goals.

We have a tough challenge ahead of us to optimize the energy of our buildings. The goal of the EU directive on the energy performance of buildings is to halve energy use from the 1995 level by 2050.
The reality is that 95% of all energy-efficient buildings we see today will remain in 2050. Therefore, a lot of measures and large investments will be required in these buildings, but it is also important to have a tool at hand that ensures that they remain optimized, and that is the purpose of Energy Target. At Egain, we are determined to do what we can to tackle one of the most difficult challenges of our time – the climate crisis. We do this by providing products and services that make it easier for our customers to be successful in their environmental and energy work.
