The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations in 2015. The goals are broad and somewhat interdependent, yet each has a separate list of targets to achieve. Achieving all 169 targets would signal accomplishing all 17 goals. The SDGs cover social and economic development issues including poverty, hunger, health, education, climate change, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment, and social justice.
The Sustainable cities and communities goal is dedicated to making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Cities are hubs for ideas, commerce, culture, science, productivity, social development and much more. At their best, cities have enabled people to advance socially and economically.
However, many challenges exist to maintaining cities in a way that continues to create jobs and prosperity while not straining land and resources. Common urban challenges include pollution, congestion, lack of funds to provide basic services, a shortage of adequate housing, inefficient use of energy and declining infrastructure.
The challenges cities face can be overcome in ways that allow them to continue to thrive and grow while improving resource use and reducing pollution and poverty. The future we want includes cities of opportunities for all, with access to services, efficient energy, housing, transportation and more.
An uncontrolled and unstable indoor climate can lead to unforeseen costs, which is linked to the satisfaction of the residents. Thanks to Egain’s proactive and self-learning system, indoor temperature, and humidity can be kept in control and stable. This means a comfortable and healthier indoor climate and satisfied citizens. In addition, Egain significantly contributes to lowering greenhouse emissions in cities.
