Good and long-term relationship between Hembla and Egain.
-With Egain Edge we have time and opportunity to put more effort on following up and fixing problem properties that stand out with poor comfort and high energy consumption. This is stated by Sune Eriksson, Energy and Environment Manager at the property company Hembla.
Hembla currently owns and manages about 22,000 rental apartments, with a focus in the Mälardalen region of Sweden. Hembla was formerly called D.Carnegie & Co. Hembla has become known for investing in large housing properties from municipal housing companies and renovating the properties.
Sune Eriksson has been at Hembla since 2008 when the collaboration with Egain began, so he knows what Egain is going for. To begin with, some pilot properties were selected. There were six similar properties each with their own heating station. Egain installed their digitalized control and monitoring system for energy optimization and the test fell out well, says Sune Eriksson.
Today, two-thirds of Hembla’s stock has Egain installed. Energy savings vary but are currently averaging around five percent, according to Sune Eriksson. Although the goal is always to reduce energy consumption, it is becoming increasingly difficult as more and more properties are energy-optimized, says Sune Eriksson.
-We are constantly thinking about how to get better and that includes getting more properties connected with Egain Edge, says Sune Eriksson.
He thinks that the great advantage of Egain is that it is easy to connect, that it is well proven and works virtually without any problems. Hembla’s operating techniques can, with the help of the analysis tool contained in the system, concentrate its resources on correcting problem properties with, for example, poor insulation. This is while other properties are optimized through remote control with information from sensors with thousands of measurement points that tell about the property’s heating and energy status.
