Egain delivers the largest IoT project in the company’s history and connects the city of Jyväskylä to Egain Edge
Press release 2018-08-27
Egain, a leading provider of IoT and cloud-based services in self-optimizing heat management for residential buildings, announces one of the biggest deals in the company’s history. The deal serves as proof of the huge demand for smart, cloud-based IoT solutions for facilities. The municipal housing company JVA in Jyväskylä, Finland, is now choosing to connect its entire portfolio of housing facilities to Egain Edge, with complete infrastructure for the Internet of Things.
For several years, Jyväskylä Vuokra-Asunnot Oy (JVA) and Egain have collaborated around digitization and energy optimization in JVA’s facilities in Jyväskylä. This cooperation has been constantly evolving towards finding new solutions and looking to drive development forward to achieve good results.
With the new agreement, approximately 160 buildings with 5,500 apartments that make up about 99% of all municipal residential properties in Jyväskylä will be digitized and linked to the cloud service Egain Edge for ongoing energy and environmental optimization and remote monitoring. The housing company will also do a full-scale implementation of Egain’s new peak control function. The installation is planned for completion in the fall of 2018.
“Egain is a reliable and long-term partner for us at JVA, one who constantly evolves and delivers value for us as a customer. With this new agreement, in addition to Egain’s proven systems for energy, the environment and indoor climate, we are now taking a giant step into the future and are adding full IoT connectivity to all 6,000 apartments in our portfolio. I’m convinced that it is absolutely the right way to go, considering how industry and society are moving towards more metering, connected buildings and smart cloud-based systems that make it easier for us and for our tenants,” says Vesa Moisio, Property manager at JVA.
“We’re thrilled to have launched this project, which to my knowledge is one of the biggest that has been implemented since we’re now digitizing an entire city with close to 140,000 inhabitants. We know that the demand for IoT in housing facilities is great and that we can deliver attractive, cost-effective solutions to meet this need. Our new agreement with JVA confirms our beliefs,” says John Aalto, Head of Sales for Egain Group in Finland.
