Different ways to collect data from your meters, and how to digitalize it!
Today, there are several different ways to collect measurement values from properties, and in properties, there are several different meters that may have different owners. Some meters are owned by the property owner, others can be owned, for example, by the municipality or the district heating supplier. This makes it difficult to influence which meter is placed in your property. Activities are usually carried out to collect and keep statistics on measured values from these different meters, which today can be done in several different ways. As a customer of Egain, you have more different opportunities and ways to go to collect data from your meters to cover all the different scenarios and variants of meters on the market.
In Egain Edge, this data is collected and structured in one place. There you can find all your statistics for Heating, Electricity and Water Consumption. This digitizes your workflow and ensures that your data is structured, accurate, and always in place when you need it.
Below are the most common procedures for collecting measured values from meters.
Manual reading and enrolment
Manual reading is a previously common method that is still used by many where you write off meter readings in, for example, an Excel sheet. To then manually enter these in the system that you use for your energy monitoring, such as Egain Edge. In this type of manual reading, you should be aware that the human factor can play a big role if, for example, you enter the wrong number somewhere. The time when the reading takes place is also reflected in the consumption and it can easily be many hours spent on manual work to go around to properties and note meter readings.
Mobile reading app – NEW!
Still today, there are many meters on the market that have no communication and thus are completely analog. These meters are not possible to connect and must be read manually. To facilitate this process, we have enabled a mobile app. With the app, you can manually read the meter and directly enter the meter reading in the mobile phone, so that the meter reading and consumption are retrieved digitally. In the app, you can also assign collection responsibility, set collection windows for when the meter is expected to be read off, and geoposition the meters to make the collection round easier and more time-effective. The app also helps you prevent erroneous readings. Feel free to contact us via the button below if you want to know more about this possibility.
Imports from the Energy Company
If you have connected meters, you have greater opportunities to work digitally. A common way of working is to download consumption statistics digitally directly from the Energy Company. We help to integrate with the energy companies and retrieve network company data directly from the customer pages (My Pages), usually in the form of monthly values. This means that you do not have to log in and retrieve values manually every month to get your statistics, they are retrieved to Egain Edge automatically. For this process to work we only need your permission as a customer to download, activate and retrieve the data from your energy company.
Automatic meter collection
With our IoT hardware, we can collect connectable meters that communicate with M-bus or Wireless M-bus (wM-bus). This creates a completely digital process with high-resolution measurement values and a lot of data. A connected meter means more than just consumption statistics, we can also get data such as flow, temperatures, and instantaneous power. Today we collect data from many different brands of meters on the market, such as Kamstrup, Sensus, and Diehl.
Regardless of which working method you prefer or work with today to follow up and collect measured values, you as a customer of Egain have the opportunity to use all these methods in parallel and at the same time have your data structured in one and the same place. No more Excel files or missed or incorrect readings.
Measured values collected for Egain Edge are presented primarily in the Consumption Data module inside Egain Edge, where your measured values are visualized in the form of clear graphs and diagrams. You can easily filter on different types of energy, compare consumption with previous periods and see trends in your building. You can also use the module to verify that implemented measures in your building get the results on heating, water, or electricity use that you have counted on.
